Got books?

Okay, in an attempt to flush some of you lurkers out from the brush, I’m giving away five copies of my November release, MARRIAGE, INTERRUPTED. But here’s the thing — you have to answer a question first. And you have a week to do it, starting now, ending Saturday Oct. 15th. I’ll put all the names into a hat or something and let #5 pick the winners. To answer, either leave your answer here, or via my contact form on my website.

So here goes: In a romance novel, do you prefer a) a traditional will-you-marry-me? ending, b) the couple to be definitely together, but long-term commitment isn’t necessary or c) it’s enough that everybody’s still alive and talking to each other?

And no, there’s no right answer. I’m just curious.

Yep, it’s fall, all right

As per usual for Albuquerque, the weather turned from high eighties and sunny a few days ago to cold and rainy today. Not cold enough to turn up the heat (which, considering what they’re saying about natural gas prices, may not happen unless and until there’s actual snow on the ground), but cold enough for fireplaces and woodstoves. At least for those lucky enough to not have their chimneys strangled by overgrown, not easily accessible, forty-foot cypress trees.

Anyway, every three hours or so, starting at six-thirty this morning, these huge, roiling dark gray clouds have gathered over the city, followed by ten minutes of drenching rain. It’s like having an elephant pee on you. But without the smell, of course.

The birthday cake is gone. And no, not because I ate most of it. Although I did help. For a supermarket cake, it wasn’t half bad, and I’ve now had my birthday cake fix for the year. Oh, and in the with-age-comes-wisdom department, #5 announced at lunch that he didn’t wear his “good” shoes out in the rain because — get this – he didn’t want to get into trouble.

Actually thinking through the consequences of one’s actions. What a novel concept.
